There was a very good attendance at the Harvest Festival Service at St. John the Baptist Church, on Sunday 4th October, 2015.   The Revd. Anne Mills led the service and came equipped with a Shopping Trolley of goodies for her talk.   The children eagerly participated and when asked what was their favourite food the prominent answer was apples followed closely by burgers.  The passages from the Holy Bible were read by David Meyrick and Gareth Dear, and Joan Berry led the prayers and Louise Dear played the organ.   Once again the church was wonderfully decorated by the ‘Flower Fairies’.

After the service the congregation made their way to the Jubilee Hall for a scrumptious Harvest Lunch which was organised by  Doreen Parris, Mary Smith, Barbara Salter and Jean Rich and was prepared and served by the many helpers who just ‘pitch in’ on the day and also wash up the dishes and clear the Hall.

There were sweets for all the children who had planted sunflower seeds on Rogation Sunday; although unfortunately some didn’t grow to fruition.   The highest Sunflower plants to be measured were grown by Katie Rich 2.32 m, Ellie Rich 2.17m and Daniel Rich 1.94m.

The proceeds from the sale of produce from the Harvest Festival will be sent to The Farm Crisis Network.
